Would a black American student be safe studying in Russia?

Ha ha ha I'm russian and I can tell you that your russian dude described situation like Russia is a terrible ghetto....don't listen to him. He exaggerates everything. Every day I see a lot of black people walking (even when it's dark) and they seem to be quite happy in Russia. Don't be afraid....I'm sure you will feel quite safely here....
