Is Denver CO a good place to move to?

Im currently living in St. Petersburg FL which is right next to Tampa FL. Me and my fiance are done with this state as its going down the drain with crime and the people in the communitys. Theres either bars on the windows with gold teeth and dreads OR trashed areas. The whole state is going down the drain and im born and raised here. So we want to move it would be me my fiance and my son which is 7 months old. We are thinking CO and ive looked at denver which seems pretty good. I pay rent for 2bed at any were from 650-850 for pretty good living and making $15 (new job). Is it a smart move?
